Preparation
Step 1
How do you fry slippery jack mushrooms in a pan? You will need a simple set of ingredients. This recipe used frozen mushrooms that were gathered in autumn.
Step 2
Take the mushrooms out of the freezer and thaw them at room temperature. Alternatively, you can cover the slippery jack mushrooms with cold water; this will thaw them faster.
Step 3
Place the mushrooms in a pot, fill it to the top with cold water, and put it over high heat to cook.
Step 4
When the water comes to a boil, foam will appear. Remove it with a large spoon. Reduce the heat to medium and cook the mushrooms under a partly covered lid for about 40 minutes.
Step 5
Drain the cooked mushrooms in a colander and rinse them well under running water.
Step 6
Peel the onion, rinse it, and cut into thin half rings or rings, whichever you prefer.
Step 7
Heat the vegetable oil in a pan. Add the slippery jack mushrooms to the pan and, over high heat, let the remaining liquid evaporate. Then continue frying until a golden crust appears, about 5–10 minutes. Do not forget to stir occasionally.
Step 8
Salt the mushrooms to taste, then add the sliced onion and butter. Cook over high heat, stirring all the ingredients constantly, until the dish is done, about 5 more minutes.
Step 9
Wash the herbs and dry them with paper towels, then chop them finely and add to the finished dish. You can use dill, young green onions, or parsley. Add pepper to taste if desired.
