Preparation
Step 1
How to fry shrimp in soy sauce? Which shrimp are best? King prawns or tiger prawns are great (if you don’t have them, regular shrimp work too). Prepare all ingredients. Take the shrimp out of the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature.
Step 2
To thaw faster, you can use cool water: cover the shrimp with water and leave them for a short while.
Step 3
Remove the head (if present) and peel off the shell.
Step 4
Remove the vein along the back of each shrimp.
Step 5
Peel the garlic and rinse it in cold water. Press it through a garlic press or grate it finely.
Step 6
Heat vegetable oil well in a skillet and add the shrimp to fry. Stirring, cook over high heat for about 1-2 minutes. They will turn pink and curl into rings.
Step 7
Add butter, garlic, and hot chili pods to the skillet. Stir and leave for a few seconds up to 1 minute.
Step 8
Pour in soy sauce (you can add 1-2 tbsp more if you like it saltier). Stirring, cook over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes. Reduce the soy sauce to your liking and remove the shrimp from the heat.
Step 9
Sprinkle with freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice and garnish with finely chopped herbs. You can also season with fragrant ground black pepper. Ready to serve!
