Oven-Baked Turkey Drumstick in Foil
Golden, beautifully browned crust and juicy meat - tasty and easy! To make a delicious, juicy turkey drumstick, bake it in foil. Foil keeps the juices from evaporating, and you don’t need to turn or baste the meat, which makes cooking faster and simpler.

Preparation
Step 1
How to bake a turkey drumstick in foil? Prepare the ingredients. Drumstick size depends on the bird’s age. I used one drumstick a little over 1 kg (about 2.2 lb), but you can use two at 500 g (about 1.1 lb) each - either works. Instead of individual spices, you can use a ready-made turkey (or chicken) seasoning. Note: such mixes often already contain salt and pepper, so season carefully.
Step 2
Rinse the turkey drumstick and pat it dry with paper towels.
Step 3
Melt the butter in a microwave or over a water bath (double boiler).
Step 4
Add paprika, curry, dried garlic, ground pepper, and salt to the melted butter. Mix well. You can replace dried garlic with 2-3 fresh cloves pressed through a garlic press, but keep in mind fresh garlic pieces may burn after you open the foil. For that reason, I usually use dried garlic in marinades and use fresh cloves only for larding (inserting into the meat).
Step 5
Rub the drumstick with the buttery spice marinade and leave it for 20-30 minutes. As the butter cools, the marinade will cling tightly to the meat.
Step 6
Place the turkey on a large double layer of foil, spread on any remaining marinade from the plate, and wrap tightly so the juices don’t leak during baking.
Step 7
Transfer the foil-wrapped drumstick to a baking tray or baking dish and bake in a preheated oven at 180-190°C (356-374°F) for 1 hour.
Step 8
Then open the foil and bake for another 20-25 minutes until a golden crust forms. If you like, baste the meat with the juices from the bottom of the dish.
Step 9
Move the cooked drumstick to a serving platter, slice into portions, and serve with a side dish. I served mine with braised red cabbage with plums. Enjoy!
