Oven-Baked Catfish
Juicy, tender fish for a family dinner! Oven-Baked Catfish is first marinated in a mixture of soy sauce, lemon juice, and olive oil. As it soaks up the marinade, the fish becomes fragrant and juicy, while baking makes the dish lighter. It is simple and quite quick to prepare.

Preparation
Step 1
How do you make oven-baked catfish? Prepare the necessary ingredients. I used pre-cut catfish steaks. How do you properly cut up a whole fish? Remove the tail, head, and fins. Clean the inside, removing the black membrane, as it is bitter and can spoil the flavor. Rinse the fish and be sure to dry it well. Cut the catfish into pieces.
Step 2
For the marinade, combine the olive oil, soy sauce, and lemon juice in a small bowl. Add the ground black pepper and basil, and mix well. I did not add salt, because soy sauce is already salty enough. Instead of olive oil, you can use any neutral vegetable oil.
Step 3
Pour the prepared marinade over the fish pieces and leave for 20–30 minutes so the fish absorbs it. During this time, turn the fish pieces a couple of times so they marinate evenly on all sides.
Step 4
Preheat the oven to 180°C / 356°F. Place the catfish pieces together with the sauce into a baking dish.
Step 5
Bake the fish in the oven preheated to 180°C / 356°F for about 30 minutes, until done. The cooking time and setting may vary depending on your oven. To prevent the fish from drying out, cover the dish with foil toward the end of cooking if needed.
Step 6
Serve the oven-baked catfish with any side dish and fresh vegetables. Enjoy!
