Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. For the batter to rise well, bring the eggs, sour cream and butter to room temperature beforehand. Sour cream of any fat percentage will work; choose good-quality sour cream and butter without added vegetable fats.
Step 2
Melt the butter using your preferred method, then leave it to cool slightly.
Step 3
Crack the eggs into a deep bowl, add the sugar and beat with an electric mixer on high speed until pale and fluffy.
Step 4
Add the sour cream and melted butter to the egg mixture. Mix on low speed until incorporated.
Step 5
Combine the flour with the baking powder. Sift it into the wet mixture, reserving 2 tablespoons of flour for later.
Step 6
Mix with a hand whisk until completely smooth.
Step 7
Divide the batter into two equal portions. Add the cocoa powder to one portion and the reserved flour to the other so both mixtures have a similar consistency.
Step 8
Mix both batters until smooth. They should have the consistency of thick sour cream. If either mixture seems too thick, add a little warm milk.
Step 9
Grease the multicooker bowl with a small piece of butter. Alternately spoon 1 tablespoon of each batter into the center of the bowl: chocolate, then vanilla, then chocolate again, continuing in this way. The circles will gradually spread outward and form the striped pattern.
Step 10
Continue until all the batter has been used, gently shaking the bowl if necessary to help the pattern spread evenly. Place the bowl in the multicooker, close the lid and select the baking program appropriate for your model. Set the cooking time to 65 minutes.
Step 11
Cook until the program ends, then check the cake with a wooden skewer inserted into the center. If it comes out with wet batter, cook for another 20 minutes. Once done, open the lid and allow the cake to cool slightly before removing it from the bowl. Cool completely on a wire rack.
Step 12
Serve dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with chocolate glaze. You can also slice the cake horizontally and fill the layers with cream to turn it into a layered cake.
