Preparation
Step 1
How do you make a poached egg in the microwave? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. It is best to use farm-fresh eggs, preferably larger ones. Before using the egg, check that it is fresh: place it in a container of room-temperature water. A fresh egg will sink to the bottom, while an older egg will float. Any 6-9% vinegar will work: apple cider, grape, or plain vinegar without additives.
Step 2
You will need plain water. Pour the water into a microwave-safe container. Such a dish must not contain any metal parts or shiny decorative patterns, because they may spark. The container should also be fairly deep. Add the vinegar to the water and stir.
Step 3
Stir the water in a circle with a spoon, fork, or something similar. Do it fairly quickly, trying to create a kind of whirlpool or funnel in the center.
Step 4
Carefully crack the egg, making sure to keep the yolk whole.
Step 5
Place it in the microwave. Approximate cooking time: for a power level of 1000 watts and above, 40 seconds will be enough; at 800 watts, about 1 minute; at 600 watts, about 1 1/2 minutes. I recommend experimenting with your particular appliance, because even though this recipe is simple, the cooking time depends on the specific microwave model and on how many cups or portions are inside. If the process goes too quickly, the egg may burst, and then the microwave will need cleaning.
Step 6
Be careful not to burn your hands when removing the dish, because it may be very hot. Our poached egg in the microwave, cooked in water, is ready.
Step 7
Place the egg on a serving plate and only then salt it to taste.
Step 8
Serve the poached egg made in the microwave, with vinegar, alongside fresh vegetables and herbs. This kind of egg is also a great addition to a vegetable salad, making it look more attractive. Or place it on top of a meat steak or a slice of bread. Enjoy your meal!
