Preparation
Step 1
How do you cook oatmeal with milk in the microwave? Prepare the ingredients. You can use any rolled oats: quick-cooking oats or oats that need longer cooking. With the latter, the oat flakes will be more noticeable, while quick oats make the porridge softer. You can use cow’s milk or goat’s milk of any fat content, depending on your taste and what you have available. The higher the fat content of the milk, the tastier the oatmeal will be, although it will also be higher in calories.
Step 2
Take a deep bowl suitable for microwave cooking and add the oats to it. Pour in the water and add the salt. Turn the microwave on for 5 minutes at maximum power; mine is 1000 watts. Wait for the signal that cooking has finished. If your microwave is less powerful, increase the cooking time by 2–3 minutes.
Step 3
Remove the bowl from the microwave carefully, so you do not burn yourself, and pour in the milk. Mix well, because the oatmeal may stick to the bottom and then burn.
Step 4
Add sugar to taste and mix.
Step 5
Return the bowl with the oatmeal to the microwave and turn it on for 3 minutes at maximum power. After the signal that cooking has finished, leave the oatmeal inside for another 3 minutes.
Step 6
Take out the bowl with the oatmeal and immediately divide it among plates. Add butter if desired. Enjoy!
