Preparation
Step 1
You can use any minced meat, but if you want to make the meatballs quickly, choose chicken mince - it cooks faster. Choose short-grain rice because it cooks faster and makes the meatballs more tender. You can skip adding flour if you choose thick sour cream for the sauce.
Step 2
Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak it in warm water first, then mix it with the chicken mince. Add salt and pepper to taste. If the mince tastes a bit bland, you can add one egg.
Step 3
Heat a pan with vegetable oil. Form round balls from the minced mixture with wet hands and place them into the pan.
Step 4
Fry the meatballs on both sides until lightly golden. Then cover with a lid, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 10 minutes.
Step 5
Peel the garlic and chop it finely or crush it using a garlic press.
Step 6
Rinse the cilantro well, dry it, and chop finely. You can use other herbs like parsley or dill, but cilantro is preferable as it gives the finished meatballs a delicious aroma and a slightly spicy flavor.
Step 7
Make the sour cream sauce by mixing the chopped garlic, chopped cilantro, flour, and sour cream in a bowl. Lightly salt and pepper the sauce.
Step 8
Pour the sour cream sauce over the meatballs in the pan and continue simmering under a lid for another 5 minutes. Serve the finished dish hot, paired with mashed potatoes, buckwheat, pasta, or simply with a vegetable salad. Enjoy your meal!
