- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
If using frozen meat, defrost it properly in the fridge on the bottom shelf. You can use any vegetable oil — sunflower oil works well. For extra aroma, use smoked paprika instead of regular.
Step 2
Wash the meat and pat it dry with paper towels. This step is crucial — excess moisture will cause the meat to steam instead of fry. Cut it into strips.
Step 3
Peel the onion and slice into half-rings. If you or your kids dislike onions, you can skip it. You may also add other veggies, like grated carrots.
Step 4
In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until translucent.
Step 5
Add the beef strips and cook for another 5–7 minutes, stirring, until the meat changes color.
Step 6
Add pressed garlic, paprika, ground pepper, and salt. Stir and fry for another minute.
Step 7
Sprinkle in the flour and stir well to coat the meat evenly.
Step 8
Pour boiling water into the pan so it fully covers the meat. Stir in a pinch of sugar and add bay leaves. Simmer the meat gravy on low heat for about 1 hour, until the meat becomes tender. Cooking time may vary depending on the cut, animal age, and heat intensity. If you want more gravy, increase water and flour by 1.5 times.
Step 9
Your beef gravy with flour is ready! It goes perfectly with almost any side dish — especially rice, pasta, buckwheat, or potatoes. Enjoy!
