Preparation
Step 1
Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Peel the onion, rinse it, and cut it into small cubes. Pour the olive oil into a pan, heat it, add the onion, and fry over medium heat until translucent. Transfer the fried onion to the pot in which the sauce will be cooked.
Step 3
Wash the orange thoroughly, dry it with a paper towel, and grate the zest of the whole orange on a very fine grater.
Step 4
Cut the orange into several pieces, transfer it to a blender, and blend. Place a sieve over a bowl, line the sieve with cheesecloth, and put the orange pulp onto it. Gather the cheesecloth into a bundle and squeeze the juice out of the orange pulp.
Step 5
Rinse the lingonberries under water and add them to the fried onion. Add the orange zest and pour in the orange juice. Add the natural honey and mix the contents of the pot. Place the pot on the stove and cook the sauce over low heat for about 10 minutes.
Step 6
Transfer part of the sauce to a blender and blend, then pour it back into the pot. Wash and sterilize the jars and their lids in advance using any convenient method.
Step 7
Pour the dry red wine into the pot and cook the sauce for about 15 more minutes, until thickened. Pour the finished sauce into sterilized jars and seal with lids.
Step 8
This lingonberry sauce will become the star of the festive table. Serve it with juicy pork baked with rosemary, beef steak, or homemade roasted pork. It also perfectly complements fried duck and turkey. Enjoy!
