Step 1
How to make the most delicious homemade bread kvass that will surely please many with its wonderful taste? First, prepare all the ingredients needed to make this excellent homemade bread kvass.
Step 2
Take a saucepan, put it on the stove and pour in 250 g of sugar.
Step 3
Turn the heat to slightly above medium and, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, melt and caramelize the sugar in the saucepan.
Step 4
Take a large pot and pour in 7 liters of warm boiled water. In a thin stream, pour the prepared caramel sugar syrup from the saucepan into the water, stirring until it is completely dissolved.
Step 5
Add 300 g of prepared rye bread croutons into the pot with the warm syrup.
Step 6
Add 150 g of thoroughly rinsed rice to the pot - it will significantly speed up the kvass fermentation process.
Step 7
Add 100 g of thoroughly rinsed raisins to the pot.
Step 8
Add no more than three-quarters of a teaspoon of instant dry yeast to the pot.
Step 9
Mix all the ingredients in the pot very well, then cover with a lid and place in a warm spot for 24 hours.
Step 10
After 24 hours, remove the spent bread and other solids (the starter) from the pot.
Step 11
Take a colander and strain the prepared kvass from the pot into a suitable container.
Step 12
Pour the strained bread kvass into suitable bottles or jars and place them in the refrigerator to chill.
