Preparation
Step 1
How do you bake a juicy drumstick? Prepare the ingredients. You can use one large turkey drumstick weighing about 1 kg (about 2.2 lb) or two smaller ones of 500 g (about 1.1 lb) each.
Step 2
Peel the garlic and slice it into slivers.
Step 3
Rinse the turkey drumstick and pat dry. Make deep slits in the meat with a knife and stud the drumstick with garlic.
Step 4
Rub the drumstick all over with salt and pepper.
Step 5
Place the drumstick in a baking dish and brush the surface with cream. Put it into an oven preheated to 220°C / 428°F and bake for about 15 minutes, until a browned crust appears.
Step 6
Then turn the drumstick to the other (undercooked) side and brush with the remaining cream. Return it to the oven to brown the other side.
Step 7
When a golden crust appears, remove the baking dish and place rosemary sprigs along the sides of the drumstick.
Step 8
Cover the dish with foil or a lid (if you have one) and return it to the oven. Reduce the temperature to 180°C / 356°F and bake for about 50 minutes, until done. To keep the crispy crust from sticking to the foil when you unwrap the meat, try not to let the foil touch the drumstick. Also brush the inside surface of the foil with vegetable oil.
Step 9
Serve the finished drumstick hot. Any side dish will work. Enjoy your meal!
