Table of volume measurements:
- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
Start by preparing the ingredients according to the list. You can use any type of minced meat or a combination of meats. I have store-bought minced pork and beef.
Step 2
Chop the onion into small cubes. If you or your children don’t like onion, you can leave it out.
Step 3
Soak a slice of bread in a small amount of water or milk.
Step 4
In a bowl, combine the minced meat, onion, soaked bread, egg, minced garlic, and sour cream. Season with spices.
Step 5
Knead the mixture until smooth, then beat it by throwing it into the bowl. This helps the mixture firm up. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
Step 6
Shape the meat mixture into 6-7 large, round patties and coat them with flour on all sides.
Step 7
Place the patties in a baking dish greased with vegetable oil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20 minutes.
Step 8
While the patties are baking, prepare the tomato gravy. You can substitute tomato paste with tomato sauce, ketchup, or finely chopped fresh tomatoes. Broth can be replaced with water. Use spices of your choice.
Step 9
Peel and finely chop the onion.
Step 10
Wash, peel, and grate the carrot on a coarse grater.
Step 11
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the onion and carrot. Sauté, stirring occasionally, until soft.
Step 12
Add tomato paste and sugar. Fry for another minute.
Step 13
Pour in the hot meat (or vegetable/chicken) broth. Season with salt, pepper, and dried oregano. Bring to a boil and simmer on low heat for 5-10 minutes, depending on the intensity of the heat and your preferences.
Step 14
Turn off the heat and stir sour cream into the sauce.
Step 15
Pour the tomato sauce over the patties and return them to the oven for another 30 minutes. The exact baking time depends on your oven.
Step 16
Serve the finished meat patties with tomato and sour cream gravy alongside any side dish of your choice. Enjoy your meal!
