Easy
More than 1 hour.
Preparation
Step 1
You can use any type of jam, but it’s best if it’s liquid - it mixes with water more easily. I used cherry jam. Adjust the sugar depending on your taste and the sweetness of the jam.
Step 2
Pour gelatin into a small bowl and add 2/3 cup (150 ml) of cold water. Stir and let it swell. You can use any kind of gelatin - I used instant, but regular works too. Instant gelatin swells almost immediately, while regular needs 20–60 minutes (check the package).
Step 3
Take a saucepan of the right size and pour in the jam. Add sugar. Once again, adjust the sugar amount to your preference.
Step 4
Bring the remaining 2 cups (500 ml) of water to a boil. Pour the hot water into the saucepan with jam. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
Step 5
Add the swollen gelatin to the jam mixture.
Step 6
Place the saucepan over low heat and stir constantly until the gelatin is fully dissolved. Once dissolved, remove from the heat.
Step 7
Let the mixture cool to warm, then pour into portion molds. I strained mine through a sieve to remove the jam berries, but you can leave them if they look nice. At this stage, you can also add fresh or thawed frozen berries (drain the juice first).
Step 8
Place the jelly in the refrigerator until fully set, about 2-3 hours (I left it overnight). Serve directly in the molds or unmold onto a plate. To release easily, dip the mold in hot water for a few seconds. Enjoy!
