Preparation
Step 1
Use good-quality vodka. The amount of sugar can be adjusted to taste. All proportions are approximate, so feel free to adapt them. Choose medium-sized lemons with smooth skin. Lemons with bumpy skin have thicker peel and less juice.
Step 2
Thoroughly wash lemons with a brush in warm water with soap to remove dirt and wax coating. Rinse with boiling water. Peel the zest carefully, avoiding the white pith, which adds bitterness. Squeeze juice from the lemons.
Step 3
In a jar, add sugar and lemon zest. Pour in the lemon juice. Stir so the sugar begins to dissolve.
Step 4
Pour vodka into the jar, close with a lid, and stir again. Leave at room temperature for 3-5 days. The warmer the room, the faster it infuses. Shake the jar several times during infusion to ensure the sugar dissolves fully.
Step 5
Strain the finished drink through several layers of cheesecloth and pour into a decanter or a clean bottle. Before serving, chill in the refrigerator for several hours.
Step 6
A great drink for a festive table! Serve with a little ice if desired.
