Advice
You can substitute the chicken with turkey or any other type of meat of your choice. However, note that cooking time and calorie content will vary accordingly.
Preparation
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients from the list. You can use thigh fillet instead of chicken breast. You may also substitute chicken with turkey or another meat of your choice.
Step 2
In a bowl, mix vegetable oil, lime juice, cumin, and chili flakes. If you don’t want it spicy, replace chili with sweet paprika flakes. Lime juice can be swapped for lemon juice.
Step 3
Wash the chicken fillet, pat dry, and season with salt and ground black pepper.
Step 4
Pour the marinade over the chicken and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
Step 5
Clean the bell pepper from seeds and cut it into thick strips. Use peppers of various colors to make the dish look more vibrant.
Step 6
Peel the onion and cut it into half-rings.
Step 7
Place the chicken in a skillet, add some of the marinade, and fry over slightly above medium heat for about 8 minutes on each side or until golden and cooked through.
Step 8
Let the cooked chicken cool slightly, then cut into medium slices.
Step 9
In the same pan where you cooked the chicken, add bell pepper and onion. Sauté together over medium heat for 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper at the end.
Step 10
Return the sliced chicken to the skillet with the vegetables. Warm everything together over low heat for another 5 minutes.
Step 11
Fajitas are traditionally served with wheat or corn tortillas. You can serve the filling separately or pre-fill the tortillas for convenience and presentation.
Step 12
Place 2 lettuce leaves in the center of each tortilla. Top with the chicken and vegetable mixture. Optionally, sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve. Enjoy!
