Preparation
Step 1
All you need are sausages, so pay close attention to their quality. Always check the ingredients list – avoid products with additives, monosodium glutamate, or unfamiliar substances.
Step 2
If your sausages are in a plastic casing, remove it carefully without damaging the product. If they are in natural casing, you can leave it on – just wash and dry the sausages.
Step 3
Make a few shallow diagonal cuts (1–2 mm deep) on both sides of each sausage. This prevents them from deforming during grilling and helps them stay even and attractive.
Step 4
Light a fire in the grill and let the wood burn down into hot coals. Use only clean, aromatic wood like birch. Do not use old construction wood. You can also use store-bought charcoal, but be sure to heat it thoroughly.
Step 5
Wait for the intense heat to subside — sausages burn easily. Place a grill grate over the coals and lay the sausages on it. Grill for no more than 1 minute per side, turning frequently. Ensure they cook through, not just develop a golden crust. A meat thermometer may help here.
Step 6
Serve grilled sausages with mustard, ketchup, mayo, or any sauces you like. Fresh vegetables and salads go great with them. Enjoy!
