Easy
About 1 hour.
Preparation
Step 1
If the wings are frozen, remove them from the freezer in advance and let them defrost at room temperature. For the marinade, use good-quality tomato paste or your favorite ketchup. You can also add 1 tbsp of mustard if desired. Rinse the wings under running water, pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture, and place them in a deep bowl.
Step 2
Prepare the marinade for the chicken wings. Peel the onion and garlic. Finely chop the onion and press the garlic through a garlic press. Add them to a bowl and mix well.
Step 3
Add ketchup or tomato paste and soy sauce. Sprinkle in ground black pepper and paprika. If you like, add a bit of honey or sugar for sweetness.
Step 4
Mix everything thoroughly and taste the marinade. Add salt if needed (I didn’t add salt, as the soy sauce is salty enough).
Step 5
Pour the aromatic marinade over the chicken wings. Mix well so every piece is coated. Cover the bowl with a lid or wrap it with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (I marinated them overnight and part of the next day).
Step 6
Light your charcoal grill. Once the coals are covered with white ash, place the grill grate on top. Brush it with vegetable oil using a silicone brush. Lay out the wings on the grill.
Step 7
Grill the wings, turning occasionally to avoid burning. During cooking, brush the wings a couple of times with the remaining marinade using a brush. It took me about 20 minutes to fully cook them. The exact time depends on the heat of the coals, size of the wings, and outdoor temperature.
Step 8
Serve hot with a variety of sauces and fresh vegetables!
