Easy
More than 1 hour.
Preparation
Step 1
Shortcrust pastry made with butter is tender and crumbly. You can replace it with margarine, but the pie will be denser. Sift the flour in advance to aerate it.
Step 2
In a food processor, add flour, sugar, and baking soda. Cut cold hard butter into cubes. Add eggs. Turn the mixture into crumbs. You can also make the dough manually, forming crumbs and shaping them into a ball.
Step 3
Divide the dough into two unequal parts, wrap in cling film, and freeze for an hour to firm it up.
Step 4
For the filling, soak raisins. Pour boiling water over them and leave for 5 minutes. Then drain the water, rinse raisins again, and place them in a sieve to drain completely. Optionally pat dry with a towel.
Step 5
You can use any heatproof baking dish for the pie. Line the bottom and sides with parchment paper. Grate the larger portion of frozen dough over the base. Press slightly.
Step 6
Grate apples and spread them evenly over the grated dough.
Step 7
Sprinkle raisins over apples. Add sugar and cinnamon.
Step 8
Grate the second portion of dough evenly over the filling. Preheat oven to 356°F (180°C). Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden. Adjust baking time based on your oven.
Step 9
The finished pie should have a tempting golden color. Remove from the form and cool. Enjoy your tea time!
