Geel Rys (Yellow Rice)

Preparation
Step 1
Start by washing the rice thoroughly. Place the rice in a bowl and cover it with cold water. Gently swirl the grains with your hand, then pour off the cloudy water. Repeat this rinsing process 2-3 times, or until the water runs clear. This step removes excess starch and helps produce light, separate grains.
Step 2
Transfer the rinsed rice to a saucepan or rice cooker and add the remaining ingredients.
Step 3
Place the saucepan over heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to the lowest setting. Allow the rice to cook for 15 minutes.
Step 4
After the cooking time is complete, remove the pan from the heat but keep the lid on. Let the rice rest for at least 3 minutes so the steam finishes cooking the grains.
Step 5
Fluff gently if desired and serve warm.
