Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 190C, or set an air fryer to 180C. Using a bread knife, slice through the baguette every 2cm/¾in, ensuring the cuts don’t go all the way through so the loaf remains intact.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine the butter, garlic, Parmesan (if using), and parsley, then season with a little freshly ground black pepper. Spread about 1 teaspoon of the garlic butter mixture between each slice of the baguette, filling all the gaps until the mixture is used up.
Step 3
For oven baking, place the prepared baguette on a baking tray and cook on the middle shelf for 15-20 minutes, or until the butter has melted completely and the center of the bread is piping hot.
Step 4
If using an air fryer, cut the baguette into lengths that fit comfortably inside. Arrange them in a single layer and cook for 10-14 minutes, until golden and fragrant.
Step 5
Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture. If cooking in batches, wrap the finished pieces in kitchen foil to keep warm until ready to serve.
