Easy
About 20 min.
Preparation
Step 1
Remove the fish from the freezer in advance and let it thaw completely at room temperature.
Step 2
Gut the mackerel, remove the heads and tails, and wash the fish thoroughly. Make sure to remove the black membrane inside the belly - it gives bitterness when cooked. Pat the fish dry with paper towels.
Step 3
Season the fish with salt and pepper on all sides. Coat each piece evenly in flour.
Step 4
Heat refined vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat (about 325°F / 160°C). Place the fish in the pan. Reduce the heat slightly below medium and cook for about 7-10 minutes.
Step 5
Carefully turn the fish to the other side, cover the pan with a lid, and fry until fully cooked - about another 10 minutes.
Step 6
The mackerel is ready! Serve sprinkled with fresh herbs. Enjoy your meal!
