Preparation
Step 1
How to make fried dough twists with sour cream and eggs? Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Put sour cream, eggs, salt, baking soda, and sugar into a bowl. Mix everything thoroughly. Sift the flour to oxygenate it, making the pastry lighter.
Step 3
Gradually add the flour to the sour cream mixture. Be prepared to use more or less flour than in the recipe. The dough should be soft and elastic in consistency.
Step 4
Lightly flour the surface and roll the dough into a sheet about 3 mm (about 1/8 inch) thick.
Step 5
Using a sharp knife, cut the sheet into strips about 3-4 cm (1¼–1½ inches) wide, then cut diamonds from these strips.
Step 6
Cut a slit in the center of each diamond. Pass one end of the diamond through the slit. Shake off excess flour from the twists.
Step 7
Pour vegetable oil into a heavy-bottomed pot and heat it well. To check if the oil is hot enough, dip a wooden spatula into it. If bubbles form around it, the oil is ready. Carefully place the twists into the hot oil.
Step 8
Fry the dough twists on both sides until golden brown. Remove the finished pieces with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Step 9
Place the twists on a serving plate, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve. Enjoy!
