About 20 min.
Preparation
Step 1
For this snack, you need a firm cheese that won’t crumble and will hold its shape when frying. Suitable types include feta, Adyghe cheese, halloumi, tofu, suluguni, etc. You can replace butter with vegetable oil or use a mix of both. Choose spices to taste.
Step 2
Cut the cheese into slices or cubes. If using brined cheese, remove it from the brine and pat dry with paper towels. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes so excess moisture can escape. This is important - otherwise, the cheese will steam instead of fry.
Step 3
Peel the garlic and press it through a garlic press. You can substitute with ½ tsp of dried garlic if desired.
Step 4
In a skillet over low heat, melt the butter. Add the garlic, paprika, ground pepper, and salt. Fry for a few seconds, stirring, until the garlic releases a strong aroma. Be careful not to overcook it, or it will burn.
Step 5
Place the cheese slices in the pan and fry for 3-5 minutes until a golden crust forms.
Step 6
Flip the cheese slices and cook until golden on the other side. A non-stick pan works best to prevent sticking.
Step 7
Transfer the hot fried cheese to a plate and serve immediately. Enjoy!
