French Fries Without a Deep Fryer
No one can resist this crispy, golden treat! French fries turn out great even without a deep fryer — all you need is a thick-bottomed pot. The key is to heat the oil well and dry the potatoes thoroughly. Now you can enjoy this favorite dish at home with your loved ones.

Preparation
Step 1
Choose large potatoes of similar size to ensure even frying. Use refined, odorless vegetable oil for frying.

Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water using a brush. Peel them (a vegetable peeler works great for a thin, even peel), then rinse again and pat dry with paper towels.

Slice the potatoes into sticks. First, cut them into ½-inch (1 cm) thick slices, then into sticks of the same width. Avoid making them too thin, as they will shrink slightly during frying.
Step 4
Rinse the cut sticks again in cold water to remove excess starch, which helps them get crispier. Dry thoroughly — moisture causes oil to splatter. Pat them dry in batches using paper towels.
Step 5
Place a deep, thick-bottomed pot or saucepan over high heat and fill it with oil — more than halfway full. Narrow and deep cookware works best to save oil. Heat the oil well. Test with a potato piece: if it bubbles, the oil is ready. Add a portion of the potatoes, not too many at once, to avoid them sticking together.
Step 6
Fry, stirring occasionally, for 3–4 minutes on medium heat until golden. If they brown too quickly but stay raw inside, lower the heat. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Salt only after frying. Continue with the remaining batches.
Step 7
Serve immediately — fries become soft once cooled, though still tasty. They pair well with ketchup, cheese sauce, or mustard. Enjoy!
