Easy
More than 1 hour.
Preparation
Step 1
Measure the necessary ingredients. Use odorless vegetable oil. Slightly warm the water. You can substitute dry yeast with fresh yeast.
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine the yeast, 1 tsp sugar, and about half of the warm water. Mix everything and leave for 10-12 minutes until a fluffy "cap" forms on the surface.
Step 3
In a large bowl with high sides, mix the yeast mixture, the remaining warm water, sugar, and salt. Stir until smooth. With the specified amount of sugar, the doughnuts will be moderately sweet. You can add more sugar if desired.
Step 4
Add the vegetable oil and mix well.
Step 5
Sift about ¾ of the flour into the bowl. Sifting is necessary to aerate the flour, which helps the dough rise better and makes the pastries light and fluffy. Do not add all the flour at once, as you might need less than stated. Stir the dough with a spoon at first.
Step 6
Gradually add the remaining flour in small portions while mixing the dough. Focus on the consistency rather than the exact flour amount.
Step 7
The dough should be smooth, soft, elastic, and slightly sticky. Cover the bowl with a towel and let it rise in a warm place for 70-80 minutes.
Step 8
The dough should increase 2.5 times in volume.
Step 9
Gently knead the dough, place it on a lightly floured surface, and divide it into two parts. Roll the dough into a sheet.
Step 10
Use cookie cutters to cut different shapes from the dough. Remove the shapes immediately, as yeast dough rises quickly and can merge back together.
Step 11
Heat vegetable oil in a pan and place the cut dough shapes in. Fry on medium heat until golden brown on one side.
Step 12
Flip and fry until fully cooked on the other side.
Step 13
Let the egg-free yeast doughnuts cool slightly or serve them warm with jam, condensed milk, or fruit preserves. Enjoy your meal!
