- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
Choose any jam, marmalade, thick jam, or preserves for the filling. Slightly warm the milk.
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine yeast, 1 tsp sugar (from the total amount), and 50 ml of slightly warm milk. Mix and leave for 10-12 minutes to activate the yeast. A foamy cap should appear. If not, replace the yeast.
Step 3
Sift the flour into a large bowl to aerate it, which improves dough rising and gives a fluffy texture.
Step 4
Melt the butter in the microwave or on low heat on the stove and let it cool slightly.
Step 5
In a deep, large bowl, beat the egg with salt and sugar until uniform.
Step 6
Pour in the remaining milk and mix.
Step 7
Add the yeast mixture and lightly mix.
Step 8
Pour in the lukewarm butter and vegetable oil, then mix.
Step 9
Add sifted flour gradually, mixing with a Add the sifted flour. Don’t add all at once; you may need less depending on the flour quality. Mix with a spoon.. Don’t add all at once; adjust based on dough consistency.
Step 10
Gradually add the remaining flour while kneading by hand. Focus on dough consistency; it shouldn’t be too stiff.
Step 11
The dough should be soft, pliable, and barely sticky. Cover with a towel and leave in a warm place to rise for 80-90 minutes.
Step 12
The rise time depends on yeast activity and temperature. The dough should increase 2.5 times in volume and be ready for shaping.
Step 13
Gently punch down the dough, place it on a floured surface, and divide into 3 equal parts.
Step 14
Roll the first part into a circle ~22 cm in diameter and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Step 15
Spread jam evenly on the dough layer, leaving a small edge.
Step 16
Roll the second part into a circle and place on top of the first layer, covering it completely.
Step 17
Spread jam on this second layer as well.
Step 18
Roll the third part and place it on top. Mark the center of the pie with a glass or cutter (~7 cm diameter).
Step 19
Cut the dough into 8 segments, not touching the center.
Step 20
Cut each segment in half again, creating 16 segments.
Step 21
Take two neighboring pieces, lift, twist them twice in opposite directions, and pinch the ends together in the middle.
Step 22
Repeat with all segments. A flower (or snowflake) shape should form. Cover lightly and let rest for 15-20 minutes.
Step 23
Beat an egg with milk until uniform.
Step 24
Brush the pie with the egg-milk mixture before baking.
Step 25
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for ~30 minutes until golden. Adjust time for your oven.
Step 26
Cool the finished pie and serve. Enjoy!
