Table
Table of volume measurements:
- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
Pour the warm milk into a bowl, add the yeast, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of flour from the total amount. Mix and leave for 15 minutes.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, crack in the egg, add the yolks, salt, and the remaining sugar. Mix well.
Step 3
Add the risen starter to the egg mixture and stir.
Step 4
Place the flour, vanilla, and cardamom into a bowl for kneading the dough, mix, and make a well in the center. Pour in the liquid ingredients and knead the dough. While kneading, add the very soft butter. You can also add it melted together with the liquid ingredients. Then work in the vegetable oil. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and stops tearing.
Step 5
Transfer the dough to an oil-greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and place it in a warm spot for 2 hours. The dough should increase well in size.
Step 6
Pour boiling water over the dried fruit and leave it to soak and swell. Then drain the water and dry the fruit.
Step 7
Grease the baking pan with oil and line it with paper. My pan is 24 cm, about 9.5 inches.
Step 8
Divide the risen dough into 2 equal parts, then divide each part into 3 more pieces. Round each piece and leave them for 15 minutes.
Step 9
Roll each piece of dough into a long rectangle and place dried fruit on top. Then roll the filled rectangles into tight logs. You will get 6 rolls.
Step 10
Braid the rolls into 2 braids and place them in the pan in a circle.
Step 11
Place the pan with the dough in a warm spot for 1.5 hours.
Step 12
Brush the risen dough with egg yolk and sprinkle with sugar and chopped nuts.
Step 13
Bake the Easter bread at 180°C (350°F) for about 30 minutes.
Step 14
Let the finished bread cool, then remove it from the pan.
