Dishwashing Sponge Cakes
An amazing dessert that will surprise your guests! A dessert shaped like a dishwashing sponge is very easy to make. Besides looking spectacular, it is also very tasty. Give it a try!

- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
Place the softened butter into a bowl.
Step 2
Add the sugar.
Step 3
Mix thoroughly until smooth.
Step 4
Add the zest of 2 lemons.
Step 5
Add the vanilla sugar.
Step 6
Mix thoroughly.
Step 7
Add the eggs in several additions, mixing the batter well the whole time.
Step 8
Then add the lemon juice and salt.
Step 9
Sift the all-purpose flour into the mixture. Add the baking powder.
Step 10
Mix until smooth. Transfer one-third of the batter to another bowl.
Step 11
Add green food coloring to the smaller portion of batter. Mix thoroughly.

Add yellow food coloring to the larger portion of batter. Mix thoroughly.
Step 13
Line a square pan with parchment paper (mine is 26 x 26 cm / about 10 x 10 inches) and spread the yellow batter in it. Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C (320°F) for 35-40 minutes.

Line a square pan with parchment paper and spread the green batter in it. Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C (320°F) for 15-20 minutes.
Step 15
Remove the baked yellow cake layer from the pan and spread it with sweetened condensed milk. (You can use jam instead, for example apricot jam.)

Remove the baked green cake layer from the pan and place it on top of the yellow layer, pressing it down slightly.

Trim the edges, about 1 cm (about 0.4 inch) from each side.

Cut into 2 equal parts.

Very thinly slice off the top layer to create a rough surface. A bread knife works best for this.

Cut into 6 equal pieces.

Transfer the finished cakes to a plate.

Let’s make the edible soap. Place the egg white, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice on a plate.

Beat with a mixer until foamy.
