Advice
You can use a heat-stable sugar substitute instead of sugar.
Preparation
Step 1
It's best to use crumbly cookies, such as shortbread or sponge. Let the butter come to room temperature beforehand. Adjust sugar to taste.
Step 2
Break the cookies into small pieces with your hands.
Step 3
Chop the walnuts finely with a knife or in a blender.
Step 4
In a bowl, mix the egg, milk, cocoa powder, and sugar. Whisk well until smooth. Don’t worry about small lumps - they’ll dissolve during heating.
Step 5
In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
Step 6
Gradually pour the cocoa mixture into the saucepan while stirring. Continue stirring constantly and bring to a boil. The egg will thicken the mixture. Remove from heat and cool slightly so that the cookies don’t turn into mush.
Step 7
Add the crushed cookies and walnuts to the chocolate mixture and mix thoroughly. If the mixture is too runny, add more cookie crumbs.
Step 8
Transfer the mixture to plastic wrap or a roasting sleeve. It should be firm enough not to spread.
Step 9
Shape the mixture into a log or sausage shape and tightly twist the ends. Secure with rubber bands. Chill in the fridge for 5-6 hours, preferably overnight.
Step 10
Slice the creamy cookie roll and serve. Enjoy!
