Preparation
Step 1
How do you make cranberry moonshine infusion at home? Prepare the necessary ingredients. It is believed that frozen cranberries are best for infusing. They need to be thawed beforehand. Place the thawed cranberries in a colander and rinse under running water. If the cranberries contain a lot of plant debris, such as small twigs or leaves, it is better to sort through them first. Let the water drain from the berries.
Step 2
Using a mortar pestle or a potato masher, crush all the berries so the cranberries release more juice into the drink. Be careful: cranberries are very juicy and splash a lot. If you do not want to filter the drink before serving, you can avoid crushing the cranberries and instead pierce each berry with a thick needle or awl. This way, the drink will be almost clear. But I do not have enough patience for that.
Step 3
Transfer the cranberries to a tall carafe in which you plan to prepare the infusion.
Step 4
Add the granulated sugar to the carafe.
Step 5
Pour purified double-distilled moonshine, 40% ABV, ideally 45%, into the carafe with the cranberries. Shake the drink so the sugar begins to dissolve a little.
Step 6
Cover the carafe with a paper towel folded several times and tightly tie the neck with string or secure it with a rubber band. Leave the infusion in a cool place for 2 weeks. After this time, filter the infusion through cheesecloth or cotton wool and be sure to squeeze out the pulp. Serve the infusion chilled. Enjoy tasting!
