Copycat KFC-Style Crispy Chicken

Step 1
How do you make KFC-style chicken? Prepare all the ingredients. For a crispy coating you’ll need unsweetened cornflakes (often sold in health-food aisles). You can use any chicken parts: breast fillet, drumsticks, the meaty part of the wing, or just small pieces - anything works.
Step 2
Rinse the chicken pieces and pat them dry.
Step 3
Marinate the chicken in a separate bowl. Add your favorite spices and seasonings and leave for about 30 minutes. I marinated with paprika, garlic powder, and salt.
Step 4
Crush the cornflakes - not into flour, but leaving larger bits. A potato masher or rolling pin works best.
Step 5
Add the breading mix to the crushed cornflakes.
Step 6
In a separate bowl, beat the egg with a fork.
Step 7
Coat each piece of chicken in flour first.
Step 8
Then dip it well in the egg.
Step 9
Then coat it in the cornflake breading mixture.
Step 10
Heat oil well in a skillet, add the breaded chicken pieces, and fry over low heat for about 10 minutes per side. The chicken must be fully cooked inside.

Transfer the cooked chicken to paper towels to remove excess oil.
