Preparation
Step 1
How to bake cod fillet with potatoes and onions in the oven with sour cream and mayonnaise? Prepare the ingredients. You can use cod either as fillets or a whole fish, cutting it up yourself. Defrost the fish before cooking, but not completely - this makes it easier to slice. Wash and peel the vegetables. Preheat the oven to 180°C (about 355°F).
Step 2
Slice the onion into thin half-rings.
Step 3
Take a suitable baking dish and lightly grease the bottom with vegetable oil. Spread the onion in an even layer.
Step 4
Slice the potatoes into thin rounds. The thinner, the better - they will bake faster.
Step 5
Lay the potatoes in the next layer, overlapping, so they form a dense layer. Season this layer with salt and pepper.
Step 6
Cut the cod fillet into large portion-sized pieces.
Step 7
Arrange the pieces of fillet tightly on top of the potatoes, as the fish will shrink slightly while baking. Season the cod with salt and pepper. You can also use any fish seasoning you like.
Step 8
Grate the carrot on a coarse grater.
Step 9
Spread it over the fish in a thin layer.
Step 10
Mix the sour cream and mayonnaise together. Spread this mixture over the top of the dish. You can also use only sour cream or only mayonnaise if you prefer.
Step 11
Cover the baking dish with foil, tucking the edges well.
Step 12
Bake the cod with potatoes in the preheated 180°C (355°F) oven. First bake for about 30 minutes under the foil, then remove the foil and continue baking until the top is nicely browned. The exact time depends on your oven. In mine, the cod baked for another 30 minutes without foil.
Step 13
Serve the dish hot. Enjoy your meal!
