- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml

Preparation
Step 1
How do you make classic tartar sauce with brined pickles and mayonnaise at home? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. The base of the sauce is mayonnaise, and it should be of the highest quality. It is best if it is homemade mayonnaise made by you. In principle, you can replace it with sour cream, but in my opinion, the sauce will lose its special character. Both brined pickles, for the classic taste, and marinated pickles, for a sharper taste, will work.
Step 2
Squeeze the lemon juice into the mayonnaise. If you are squeezing the juice directly from a lemon, wash it with very hot water first - that way the lemon will release more juice. Use a small sieve as well so that the lemon seeds do not get into the sauce. For convenience and speed, you can also use ready-made bottled lemon juice.
Step 3
Wash the pickles and dry them. Cut them into very small cubes. You can also grate them on a coarse grater, but then be sure to squeeze out the excess liquid.
Step 4
Add the chopped pickles, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce to the mayonnaise. I recommend using a regular strong mustard.
Step 5
Salt the sauce a little to taste. Keep in mind that mayonnaise itself is already quite salty, and the pickles also contain a lot of salt. Therefore, some people may not need any extra salt at all.
Step 6
Pepper the sauce. The pepper can be any spicy ground pepper. I use a pepper blend.
Step 7
Wash the greens well, dry them, and chop them finely. If you do not have fresh herbs, you can use dried herbs in powdered form: tarragon, onion, and parsley.
Step 8
Add the chopped herbs to the sauce. You can also add your favorite herbs to taste: cilantro, dill, and basil. In my opinion, a minced garlic clove would also fit very well here.
Step 9
The sauce turns out thick and aromatic. It goes perfectly with potatoes and other vegetables. Or it can simply be served as a spread on bread. Enjoy your meal!
