Preparation
Step 1
How to make pizza with sausage and cheese? First, make the tomato sauce so it can infuse a bit, become more aromatic and flavorful, and also cool down.
Step 2
Peel the garlic, rinse it, and slice into thin pieces.
Step 3
Heat olive oil in a skillet. Over medium heat, fry the garlic slices on both sides for 1 minute total. This will give the oil a pleasant aroma. Remove the garlic from the skillet. If you want garlic in the sauce, press it through a garlic press or grate it finely.
Step 4
Add the tomato paste to the skillet and stir. Warm the paste over low heat for 1 minute, stirring.
Step 5
Pour in the water and mix well. Bring the sauce to a boil.
Step 6
Add salt, sugar and basil; stir.
Step 7
Simmer the sauce over low heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cover with a lid so the sauce can infuse. It will become more aromatic and thicken slightly.
Step 8
Make the pizza dough. Olive oil can be replaced with any vegetable oil.
Step 9
Sift the flour into a bowl to aerate it - this improves yeast activity. If you use active dry yeast, activate by dissolving it in a small amount of warm water and letting it stand for about 5 minutes. Instant yeast (like mine) can be mixed directly with the flour.
Step 10
Add the yeast and salt to the sifted flour and mix. Keep in mind you may need more or less flour than I did - go by the dough texture. If needed, add a bit more flour, or add a splash more water.
Step 11
Make a well in the flour and pour in room-temperature water.
Step 12
Mix first with a spoon.
Step 13
Add olive oil, mix, and knead the dough by hand.
Step 14
The dough should be smooth, soft but elastic, and not stick to your hands. Wrap it in plastic wrap and let it “rest” for 30 minutes. During this time, the gluten develops and the dough becomes easier to work with.
Step 15
Meanwhile, prepare the toppings. You can use any sausage you like. Choose a hard cheese that melts well. You can also use mozzarella or processed cheese. Pick other toppings as you wish. If you don’t want to make homemade tomato sauce, you can use ketchup.
Step 16
Slice the sausage into thin rounds.
Step 17
Wash the bell pepper and pat dry. Remove seeds and the green parts. Cut it as you like - I sliced it into rings.
Step 18
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
Step 19
The dough has rested and become softer and more pliable.
Step 20
Roll the dough into a round base and form small edges. You can do this directly on parchment so it’s easy to transfer to a baking tray. If you have a pizza pan, you can use it.
Step 21
Brush the pizza base with a thin layer of olive oil.
Step 22
Spread the cooled tomato sauce evenly.
Step 23
Sprinkle with a little grated cheese.
Step 24
Arrange the sausage slices.
Step 25
Add the bell pepper rings.
Step 26
Distribute the olives (you can also use black olives).
Step 27
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
Step 28
Bake the pizza in a preheated 190°C oven (374°F) for about 25 minutes. The edges should lightly brown and the cheese should melt. Baking time may vary depending on your oven.
Step 29
Enjoy your meal!
