About 30 min.
Preparation
Step 1
Roll the bun dough out to a thickness of approximately ⅛–¼ inch. Spread the softened butter evenly over the entire surface.
Step 2
Mix the cinnamon with the sugar and sprinkle the mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
Step 3
Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into pieces approximately ¾–1¼ inches thick. Arrange them on a baking sheet and brush the tops with beaten egg.
Step 4
Prepare the puff pastry in the same way: spread it with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and roll it up. Cut the large sheet in half first to make a greater number of small puff pastry swirls. Slice and arrange them on the baking sheet.
Step 5
Bake all the pastries in an oven preheated to 390°F. Begin checking the puff pastry swirls after 20 minutes.
Step 6
Meanwhile, prepare the glaze. Place the confectioners’ sugar and a little vanilla powder in a dry saucepan. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly. Heat gently over low heat until the glaze becomes smooth, glossy and white.
Step 7
Remove the small puff pastry swirls from the oven when golden and drizzle them with the glaze. Leave the larger buns to bake for another 7–10 minutes, or until cooked through and golden. Drizzle them with the vanilla glaze as well.
Step 8
Leave the glaze to set slightly, then serve the pastries.
