Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients. I also used pretzel sticks to insert into the bottom of the sandwiches, but that’s optional. Choose a loaf of bread with a dense crumb, not too soft, so it doesn’t crumble and is easier to cut into Christmas tree shapes.
Step 2
Slice the loaf into pieces about ½–⅔ inch (1–1.5 cm) thick. Cut a Christmas tree shape from each slice.
Step 3
Wash the dill and pat it dry thoroughly. Use only soft, feathery fronds and discard the thick stems. Finely chop the dill.
Step 4
Spread the prepared “trees” with cream cheese. You can use plain cream cheese or one with vegetable, mushroom, or other flavors. You could also mix finely chopped sausage, olives, or black olives into the cheese yourself. This will diversify the taste of the sandwiches. Soft processed cheese also works well.
Step 5
Sprinkle the “trees” with the chopped dill.
Step 6
Wash the bell pepper, remove seeds and stems. It’s nice to use peppers of different colors, for example, red and yellow or orange. Cut the pepper into small cubes.
Step 7
Arrange the bell pepper cubes on the “trees” like garlands or randomly, as if they’re Christmas ornaments.
Step 8
Place a few fish roe on the top of each “tree” as the tree toppers. You can replace the roe with pieces of tomato. Optionally, insert pretzel sticks at the base of the sandwiches.
Step 9
Serve the sandwiches immediately. Enjoy!
