Advice
Keep in mind that microwaves don’t all work the same way. Cooking time and recommended power levels may differ from those stated in the recipe. Read your appliance’s manual and cook considering your microwave’s specifics.
Preparation
Step 1
Use good-quality, real chocolate. You can choose milk, dark, or bitter chocolate. The type you choose will determine how rich the dessert turns out. I used dark chocolate. The same goes for butter - it should be flavorful and without vegetable fats in its ingredients.
Step 2
Take a small bowl or microwave-safe container. Place the chocolate (broken into pieces) in it, add the sugar. Adjust the amount of sugar to your taste and the bitterness of your chocolate. Add the butter.
Step 3
Put the bowl with the ingredients into the microwave on maximum power for 30-45 seconds. The butter should melt. Check your microwave, as the time might vary depending on your appliance.
Step 4
Stir the ingredients - the hot butter will quickly melt the chocolate and dissolve the sugar.
Step 5
Crack an egg into the chocolate mixture. Stir it in.
Step 6
Add the flour and whisk it in. You may need slightly more or less flour than stated in the recipe; adjust according to the batter’s consistency. It should be like thick sour cream. I added an extra half spoonful.
Step 7
Take a mug suitable for the microwave. Pour the batter into the mug, leaving some space at the top because the brownie will rise during cooking. My mug holds 250 ml (about 8.5 fl oz).
Step 8
Cook the brownie in the microwave on maximum power for 1 to 3 minutes. Start with 1 minute, then add more time depending on the brownie’s doneness. Touch the top - it should feel firm. But don’t overcook it - the brownie should remain slightly moist inside. The exact time depends on how your microwave works and the size of your mug.
Step 9
Serve the brownie. You can dust it with powdered sugar. It’s especially delicious served warm with ice cream. Enjoy your treat! Note that microwave baking has a different texture compared to baking in a traditional oven.
