Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180C, then grease and line a loaf tin.

In a large bowl, sift together the plain flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, salt, and sugar, mixing well to combine.

In a separate bowl, mash the bananas and stir in the eggs and melted butter. Gently fold this banana mixture into the dry ingredients until just incorporated.

Add the chocolate and nuts, folding lightly, then spoon the batter into the prepared loaf tin.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until risen and a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve.
