Preparation
Step 1
How do you make a tasty Chinese (Napa) cabbage salad? Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Peel the carrot and garlic. Remove the tough, damaged outer leaves from the cabbage. Drain the liquid from the canned corn. Rinse all the vegetables under cold running water.
Step 3
Slice the Chinese (Napa) cabbage into thin strips. Put it into a large bowl or salad bowl.
Step 4
Grate the carrot on a coarse grater and add it to the cabbage. You can use a Korean-style grater so the carrot looks more attractive.
Step 5
Grate the smoked cheese as well and add it to the bowl.
Step 6
Add the canned corn to the rest of the ingredients.
Step 7
Final touches: grate the garlic on a fine grater or press it through a garlic press. Add the garlic and mayonnaise to the bowl. Increase the mayonnaise if you like. I prefer salads that don’t “swim” in mayonnaise, so I add only a little. Homemade mayonnaise will taste especially good here.
Step 8
Mix the salad thoroughly and taste it. Add salt if needed. I skip salt because the cheese is salty enough.
Step 9
The salad is ready to serve! Sprinkle with coarsely chopped herbs and ground pepper if desired.
