Chinese Dessert: Caramel Bananas with Sesame Seeds

Preparation
Step 1
Make the batter by mixing the egg, starch, flour, vegetable oil, and water. The batter should be as thick as pancake batter.

Peel the bananas and cut them into large pieces.
Step 3
Heat 1.5 cups of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pan. Dip each piece of banana into the batter and immediately lower it into the hot oil. Cook, turning with a spatula, until golden brown on all sides.
Step 4
In another pan, make the caramel by adding sugar and water to heated vegetable oil. Cook it over the lowest heat until it turns light yellow.
Step 5
Place the fried bananas into the caramel. Turn them with a spatula to coat each piece in caramel.
Step 6
Before serving, sprinkle the finished bananas in sweet caramel with sesame seeds.
