Step 1
How to make a chicken, cheese, and crouton salad? Start by preparing the ingredients from the list. Napa cabbage can be replaced with other salad greens (romaine, frisée, iceberg, etc.) or a ready salad mix. You can add or swap the vegetables to your taste. You can also replace chicken with another meat. Tomatoes can be regular or cherry.
Step 2
Rinse and pat dry the chicken fillet. Lightly season with salt and pepper. Wrap the fillet in foil and bake in the oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 25 minutes, until done. You can bake, boil, or pan-fry the chicken instead. Smoked chicken also works.
Step 3
Cool the cooked chicken fillet and cut into small pieces or pull into shreds.
Step 4
Rinse, pat dry, and cut the napa cabbage into medium pieces. You can slice the whole head or separate it into individual leaves. For a more tender salad, cut off the thick white ribs in the center of the leaves.
Step 5
Hard-boil the eggs, cool, peel, and cut into thin strips or slices.
Step 6
Rinse and pat dry the cherry tomatoes, then cut in half. Slice regular tomatoes into wedges. Use juicy but firm tomatoes - soft ones won’t hold their shape and can ruin the salad’s appearance.
Step 7
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater or a Korean-style carrot grater.
Step 8
For the dressing, mix sour cream with mayonnaise in a bowl. Add your favorite spices if desired.
Step 9
Combine the chicken, eggs, cherry tomatoes, cheese, and salad leaves in a bowl. Gently mix.
Step 10
Mound the salad (with napa cabbage, tomatoes, chicken, and cheese) onto a plate and drizzle with the dressing. Enjoy!
