Preparation
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients needed for the recipe. It’s better to use fresh chicken for this dish, as it will make the final meal extra juicy and flavorful! However, frozen chicken works as well. If using frozen chicken, take it out from the freezer and thaw it beforehand.
Step 2
Remove any leftover feathers from the chicken, if present. Rinse the chicken and pat it dry with paper towels. Cut the chicken into small, portioned pieces. Place them into a deep enough bowl.
Step 3
Sprinkle the chicken with ground black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and turmeric. Optionally, you can add a pinch of sugar. Salt to taste.
Step 4
Mix everything thoroughly, cover with a lid or plastic wrap, and let it marinate for 1–2 hours.
Step 5
Heat some neutral vegetable oil in a skillet with a thick bottom. Place the marinated chicken pieces in a single layer in the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium and cook the chicken for about 10–15 minutes. You should see a golden, crispy crust forming on the chicken.
Step 6
Next, flip each piece and fry for another 15–20 minutes, until fully cooked. If necessary, reduce the heat a bit more. Make a cut in the largest piece of chicken with a knife. If the juice runs clear, the chicken is ready. If the juice is still pinkish, flip the pieces again and cook for a few more minutes.
Step 7
Sprinkle the finished dish with finely chopped herbs and aromatic ground pepper.
Step 8
Serve the chicken pieces in the skillet hot, accompanied by fresh vegetables and salads.
