Cheese and sausage twists

Crispy cheddar and sausage pastry twists with a hint of chilli - golden, cheesy, and perfect for snacking or serving at parties.

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 220C.
Step 2
Unroll the pastry onto a baking tray with the longest edge facing you.
Step 3
Scatter cheddar cheese over the right-hand half of the pastry. Arrange 10-12 slices of sausage on top of the cheese and sprinkle with chilli flakes. Fold the remaining pastry over the filling and press down with your hands to flatten.
Step 4
Rotate the pastry 45 degrees so it sits neatly in the centre of the baking paper. Gently roll with a rolling pin to seal the layers together.
Step 5
Slice the pastry into 1cm/½in strips and twist each one 4-5 times. Brush the twists with beaten egg and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until puffed up, golden, and crisp.
Step 6
Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
