Cereal Bar

A cereal bar is a great alternative to sweets and candies. It contains no added sugar—banana and apple provide natural sweetness. Packed with nuts, seeds, and oats, it keeps you feeling full for a long time.

Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. Any type of oats will work. Choose ripe, soft bananas—they are easier to mash and add more flavor to the bars. Instead of raisins (or in addition to them), you can use other dried fruits like dried cherries, cranberries, or apricots. Any type of nuts and seeds will work.
Step 2
Peel the banana, break it into small pieces, and mash it with a fork into a purée. It’s fine if small chunks remain—they will enhance the flavor of the bars.
Step 3
In a large bowl, mix the oats with the banana purée. Stir well, then add the seeds and nuts. If using large nuts, chop them beforehand using a knife or mortar. For extra flavor, you can lightly toast the nuts in a dry pan. Rinse the raisins (or other dried fruits), drain, and add them to the bowl. If using larger dried fruits, chop them into smaller pieces. Mix everything thoroughly.
Step 4
Wash the apples, cut them into quarters, and remove the cores. Grate the flesh using a coarse grater—keep the skin on or remove it as you prefer. Add the grated apple to the oat mixture and mix well. The final mixture should be thick and sticky.
Step 5
Prepare a baking sheet or a rectangular baking dish. If making a smaller batch, use a 20x20 cm (8x8 inch) pan. Line it with parchment paper—ideally, use silicone-coated paper for easy removal. Spread the mixture evenly on the paper, pressing it down with your hands. The thickness should be 5-7 mm (¼ inch).
Step 6
Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 30 minutes until golden brown. The exact time will depend on your oven.
Step 7
Remove the tray from the oven and cut the bars while still warm into strips of your desired size. Let them cool completely before removing them from the parchment paper and breaking them along the cut lines.
Step 8
Serve the bars and enjoy! Store them in the refrigerator for freshness.
