Step 1
How do you make caramelized bananas in a frying pan? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Choose firm bananas that are not overripe, otherwise they will fall apart during cooking. It is best to use filtered or bottled water with a neutral taste. If you use tap water, keep in mind that it may give the dish a noticeable aftertaste.
Step 2
Peel the bananas and cut them into pieces 1.5-2 cm thick, about 0.6-0.8 inch, no thinner. As an alternative, you can cut the bananas lengthwise along their entire length.
Step 3
In a small frying pan or a thick-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter. Do this over low heat so the butter does not start to burn. Stir the butter so it melts as evenly as possible.

Add the sugar to the melted butter. Stir and leave it to heat for a few more minutes. Instead of sugar, you can use a sweetener that is suitable for heat treatment.

The sugar will melt and begin to turn golden. The mixture will start to foam. Do not let the sugar burn. Stir the mixture with a wooden spatula.
Step 6
Pour the water into the caramel mixture in a thin stream. Do this carefully, because the mixture will start to hiss and bubble. Stir and cook for 1 minute until the sugar dissolves.
Step 7
Place the sliced bananas into the hot caramel. Cook them for 1 minute over low heat. If you are using softer bananas, reduce the cooking time.
Step 8
After 1 minute, carefully turn the bananas over and cook them for the same amount of time on the other side. Sprinkle them with a small amount of ground cinnamon to taste. Instead of cinnamon, you can also sprinkle them with sesame seeds. Since everyone perceives flavors differently, always add spices and seasonings according to your own taste.

The caramelized bananas are ready! Transfer them to a serving dish. They are very tasty both hot and cold. Enjoy your meal!
