Preparation
Step 1
How to make calamari rings for beer at home? First prepare all the ingredients on the list. You can use whole squid carcasses or already sliced frozen rings.
Step 2
If the squid are whole, peel off the skin and inner films, remove the chitin plate and insides. Rinse very well. Slice the squid tubes into rings. If the squid are frozen, defrost them beforehand, but not completely - slightly frozen squid are easier to clean. If you have frozen rings, just thaw and pat them dry.
Step 3
Combine the egg with salt and pepper and beat with a fork until smooth.
Step 4
First dip the calamari rings into the beaten egg.
Step 5
Then coat them on all sides in flour. Shake off any excess flour. If you like, you can bread the calamari in breadcrumbs instead.
Step 6
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat until very hot. Lay in the calamari and fry on both sides until golden and crisp, but no longer than 2-3 minutes, otherwise the squid will become tough and not tasty. During frying the calamari straighten out and take on a ring shape.
Step 7
Transfer the cooked calamari onto paper towels so that excess fat is absorbed.
Step 8
Serve the calamari rings immediately with any sauces you like. Enjoy!
