Cabbage, Potato, and Meat Stew
Original, appetizing, and perfect for a family dinner. Cabbage, potato, and meat stew is a hearty and very tasty dish prepared in many countries. It is a stew of braised vegetables that can be made either meatless or with the addition of meat or sausages.

Preparation
Step 1
How do you make cabbage, potato, and meat stew? Prepare the ingredients. Use pork, preferably with a small amount of fat, so the stew turns out juicier. Wash and dry the vegetables beforehand.
Step 2
Rinse the pork well and pat it dry, then cut it into small pieces. Heat a frying pan over high heat, pour in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, and fry the meat for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. The meat will release some fat, which will be useful later.
Step 3
Transfer the meat to a heavy-bottomed pot and pour in 1 cup of water. Cook the meat for about 10 minutes over low heat.
Step 4
Peel the potatoes and cut them into large cubes. Add the chopped potatoes to the meat.
Step 5
Peel the carrot and cut it into small pieces, either rounds or strips. Add the carrot to the stew at the same time as the potatoes. Simmer everything together for another 10 minutes.
Step 6
While the vegetables and meat are simmering, finely shred the cabbage. You can use a special cabbage slicer or a double-bladed knife for this. Cabbage cut this way turns out very thin and cooks quickly. Add the shredded cabbage to the pot with the vegetables to simmer.
Step 7
Meanwhile, prepare the sautéed onion mixture. Peel 1 large onion and chop it finely. Fry the onion in the fat released from the meat. When the onion turns golden, add the tomato paste. Fry everything together for another couple of minutes so the tomato paste releases its aroma. Add the tomato mixture to the stew. Mix well and simmer for another 10-15 minutes.
Step 8
If you like, you can add any herbs to the cabbage, potato, and meat stew. I added finely chopped parsley. Add the herbs to the pot last, stir, and immediately turn off the heat.

Let the stew rest and cool slightly. After 10-15 minutes, you can serve it. Enjoy your meal!
