Cabbage Pie without Yeast

Preparation
Step 1
First, prepare all the necessary ingredients and spices for making the savory cabbage pie in the oven.
Step 2
For the filling, heat a frying pan and add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add one finely chopped onion and sauté over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Step 3
Finely shred about 12 oz (350 g) of white cabbage and place it in a large bowl.

Add finely chopped dill to taste.
Step 5
Add one minced garlic clove to the frying pan with the onions and sauté for another 2 minutes.

Add ⅓ teaspoon of salt to the cabbage and knead it with your hands for about 4 minutes until it softens.

Add ground black pepper to taste, then add the sautéed onion and garlic mixture. Stir everything thoroughly.

In a separate deep bowl, crack 4 eggs. Add ⅓ teaspoon of salt and ⅓ teaspoon of sugar (for color and flavor).

Beat with a mixer until smooth.

Sift in 1½ cups (about 170 g) of all-purpose flour and add ½ teaspoon of baking powder.

Mix again with a mixer until smooth.

Pour in 1¼ cups (300 ml) of room-temperature kefir.

Stir everything well until you get a smooth batter. Let it rest for about 15 minutes.

Grease a baking pan with a little oil and pour in half of the batter.

Spread the cabbage filling evenly on top.

Pour the remaining batter over the filling.

Spread the batter evenly and bake in a preheated oven at 355°F (180°C) for about 30-35 minutes.
