Preparation
Step 1
How to make juicy cabbage in an oven bag? Very simple! First, prepare all the necessary ingredients as listed. You can add or replace ingredients to your taste.
Step 2
Remove the damaged outer leaves from the cabbage and cut out the core. Shred the cabbage. To make the dish heartier, you can add diced potatoes.
Step 3
Clean the bell pepper from seeds and stems, then slice it into thin strips.
Step 4
Peel the carrot and grate it on a coarse grater.
Step 5
Peel the onion and cut it into half-rings or quarter-rings. If you or your kids don’t like onions, you can skip them.
Step 6
Finely chop the dill. Optionally, replace or add other herbs such as green onions, cilantro, or parsley. You can also use a mix of dried herbs if you don’t have fresh ones.
Step 7
In a bowl, combine the onion, cabbage, carrot, and bell pepper.
Step 8
Add salt, pepper, and mix everything, lightly squeezing the cabbage with your hands to release some juice. Add your favorite seasonings if desired, such as a special spice blend for braised cabbage.
Step 9
Place the prepared vegetables into a baking bag. Drizzle with vegetable oil on top. Tie both ends of the bag tightly so the juice won’t leak out. Gently turn the bag several times so all ingredients are coated with oil.
Step 10
Transfer the oven bag with the cabbage onto a baking tray and place it in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 40-50 minutes, turning the bag occasionally for even baking. Enjoy your meal!
